The first step is to schedule a consultation. Consultations are free of charge and there is no obligation to use Haven Photography. The purpose here is to determine if Haven Photography is able to cater to your personal needs. We will discuss a senior session in detail as well as things like clothing, prop and location suggestions.
- Haven Photography brings the studio to you. A sitting can take place in your home, backyard, a location of your choice, or a combination of this.
- The sitting can take anywhere from 2-6 hours depending on what you desire for location options.
- There is no limit on clothing changes during your session.
Hair
- Guys: If you plan to get a hair cut, do so no sooner than a week before the session. You're style will usually look its best with a week or so of growth.
- Ladies: I suggest you not have any major hair style changes prior to your session (i.e. cutting long hair short). A year or two down the line, you might wish you hadn't done such a major appearance change.
- Bring hair care products with you to the session such as, hair spray and brush or comb.
Clothing
- Solid colors work best. Avoid stripes or plaids as they are often not very flattering.
- Avoid clothing with writing on it except for highschool related. Writing on clothing tends to take away from the main subject, you!
- If you wish to do clothing changes, be sure that you bring complete outfits from head to toe.
- Have each outfit change on hangers, complete and ready to go.
- Tank style tops are often not very flattering for the arms. You are welcome to have images with a tank top, but I suggest you bring another top that will go nicely over it as well.
Tanning
- Avoid sunburn prior to your session as red and peeling skin is not at all attractive in photos!
Pets, Friends, Family
- Pets are always welcome in your session. If your pet might be a distraction while taking images they are not going to be in, it's a good idea to make sure there is someone who can take care of them, or take them home after they have been in the desired shots.
- You are welcome to bring a friend, sibling, boyfriend or girlfriend to join you for a few of your images.
- Parents are always welcome to attend the session and it's great if they can help the photographer if needed.
Props
- Yes! Props are a great way to individualize your session!
- Uniforms from activities you participate, such as sports, band, cheerleading, etc...
- Are you into music? Bring your instrument with you for you session.
- Into dancing? Bring your leotard and shoes.
- Any hobbies that you have and can bring props for are encouraged.
- Your car or motorcyle makes a great prop, too!
Glasses
- Most glasses glare, some more than others.
- See your eye care professional to have the lenses removed prior to your session.
- Another option is to borrow an empty frame too.
Weather
- Unfortunately, we can not control the weather.
- We can easily reschedule your sitting if the original scheduled day turns out not so nice.
- Cloudy days are no problem and can actually be a benefit.
Blemishes and Imperfections
- Blemishes and other skin imperfections can be easily removed in post processing of your images.
Take advantage of your seniors session! Bring the family along for a quickie family portrait at not extra sitting fee cost!
